Tipperary County Council is preparing a new Local Area Plan for Tipperary Town, which will set out the land use strategy for the town to ensure the town can grow, support employment and homes and can do so sustainably and successfully.
The Council is inviting submissions from the public to identify priorities and help shape the future development of the town. This stage represents the ‘issues’ stage before a draft of the Local Area Plan is published. An Issues Paper has been produced to help inform submissions and sets out:
- Why we are preparing a Local Area Plan
- The process of adopting the Local Area Plan
- Key questions for the local community in shaping the Plan
- How you can get involved in making the Plan
The Issues Paper is available for public inspection during public opening hours from Tuesday 07 May 2024 until Tuesday 04 June 2024 inclusive at the following locations:

Important things to note in making your submission:
- Please clearly indicate the name of the town to which your submission relates.
- Please make sure your submission is in one medium only i.e. online or by post.
- All submissions should include your name and contact address, a map (where appropriate), and where relevant, details of any organisation, community group or company, which you represent.
- Children or groups and associations representing the interests of children are particularly welcome to make submissions or observations.
- All submissions are subject to the Data Protection Act (as amended) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (as amended) and the Freedom of Information Act 2014 (as amended).
- Submissions will be accepted from Tuesday 7th May 2024 until 4.00pm on Tuesday 4th June 2024 inclusive.
A drop-in public information session will also be held at Tipperary Town Library, The Excel Centre, Mitchel Street, Tipperary Town, E34 KP60 from 3-7pm on Tuesday, 14 May 2024 to discuss key issues for the Plan. Everyone is welcome to attend.
