ARTICLE 81 OF PART 8 OF THE PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS 2001, as amended
Pursuant to the requirements of Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended, Tipperary County Council hereby gives notice that it intends to carry out the following development:
Description:Improved Street layout for Carrickbeg. The project will deliver a One-way traffic system with Improved footways and parking facilities on the main streets in Carrickbeg, Carrick on Suir. The site includes Abbey Hill, Bridge St., Friar St., Waterford Road and Corpse Road. The proposed works will provide a more attractive streetscape that improves mobility for all modes of transport within the project extents. The works will deliver continuous walking routes with safe crossing points at desired locations.
A One - way traffic system is proposed on the following streets:
- A 40m section of the Waterford road (L6717) from of Bridge St. /Abbey Hill to the proposed 24 space car park entrance.
- Abbey Hill (L2710)

Abbey Hill, Bridge St., Friar St., Waterford Road and Corpse Road, Carrickbeg, Carrick on Suir, Co. Tipperary.
The Improved Street Layout for Carrickbeg comprises the following:
- Modifications to traffic management in Carrickbeg where the Waterford Road will be made westbound one-way from it’s junction with Abbey Hill/ Bridge St to the 24 space car park entrance.
- Modifications to traffic management in Carrickbeg where Abbey Hill will be made southbound one-way from it’s junction with Bridge St to it’s junction with Corpse Road.
- Widening of footpaths and the provision of new footpaths, reducing road carriageway widths and installation of new and improvement of existing pedestrian crossings.
- Provision of 2nr. Parking areas.
- Public lighting within the parking areas and improved public lighting on the existing streets.
- Boundary works involving the removal of a short section of boundary wall to facilitate the parking areas,
- All associated site and ancillary works.
The development has been the subject of an Appropriate Assessment screening in accordance with Article 6(3) of the EU Habitats Directive (Directive 92/43/EEC) and article 250(1) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 as amended. The Appropriate Assessment screening concluded that the proposed development would not be likely to give rise to significant or indeterminate impacts on any Natura 2000 site.
In accordance with Article 120(1)(a) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, as amended, the Planning Authority has carried out a preliminary examination of nature, size and location of the proposal, and has concluded that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development, and an EIA is not required.
Plans and particulars of the proposed development, including Appropriate Assessment Screening and Environmental Impact Assessment Preliminary Examination report will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy at: -

from 09:30am- 4:30 pm Monday to Friday for a period 12th of October 2022 to 10th of November 2022 (excluding bank holidays).

Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanala for a screening determination as to whether this development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
